Fleas can be a real problem both in domestic and commercial properties. We use what we regard to be the best and safest insecticides available to the pest control industry. Treated areas can be safely re-occupied just one hour after the treatment has been carried out, causing minimum disruption to the client, their household or business.

In some cases, where it is not appropriate to lay poison baits against rodent activity, spring traps are employed. All spring traps used by Contract Killers Ltd are government approved and comply with the Wildlife and countryside Act and spring trap legislation.

The garden ant is one of the many insect pests that Contract Killers Ltd treat during the warmer months. Insecticidal sprays and bait stations can be used in both indoor and outdoor situations. Both methods are harmless to plants, pets and children.

Flies pose a real health risk within any kitchen or food area. Contract Killers Ltd can supply Electronic Fly Killing machines, fly--screen doors and windows as well as carrying out Insecticidal treatments against fly activity.

The most effective way to eradicate mouse or rat problems is to use a rodenticide (rodent poison). Contract Killers Ltd use second generation, state of the art rodenticides. All baits are deployed in the safest way possible. This includes securing the baits within tamper resistant bait stations to ensure that non-target animals or children cannot gain access to them. All rodenticides used by Contract Killers Ltd are government approved and are regarded as humane. We only use baits that are manufactured by leading companies i.e. Rentokil.

As well as Insecticidal spray treatments, Contract Killers Ltd use a number of other control methods against insect pests. These include insect baits and insect monitoring traps with pheromone lures. These methods prove particularly useful for the control of cockroaches and other crawling insects within food premises, residential homes, schools and hospitals.

Moles can present a real problem when active within golf greens, playing-fields, pastures and gardens. Contract killers Ltd offer two methods of control. Moles can be controlled in some situations by the application of Phosphine gas although a conventional mole trapping program has been found to be generally the most successful method of control. Both methods produce a minimum of disruption to the grass surface of the treated area.

Rabbits are notorious for causing damage to crops and garden plants as well as lawns and golf greens. However, they are also capable of causing considerable emotional damage as well. Wild rabbits are frequent "unwelcome-visitors" to cemeteries where they often eat flowers from wreaths and even burrow into graves. A female rabbit born early in the year is capable of reproducing by the end of March. Each female will produce an average of 5 young per litter and have 4-5 litters per year; therefore each individual female rabbit has the potential to produce 25 breeding rabbits per year. Each rabbit consumes on average 0.5 Kg of vegetation per day.

Pigeons, gulls, crows, doves and many other wild birds can cause serious damage to a buildings' structure. In addition to the nuisance-factor caused by their noise and smell, nesting and roosting birds bring with them a host of crawling, biting and blood-sucking insects which often prey upon humans. Not only can Pigeons and many other species of bird carry diseases that can prove fatal to humans, but even their droppings, when under-foot can cause serious injury through slips, trips and falls. As well as bird control and proofing, we offer a service for the removal of bird-fouling.

Feral pigeons are classified as an Environmental Health Pest. Even a small number of roosting pigeons can give rise to odour and noise complaints. In addition to this, Health and Safety problems are caused in the form of slipping hazards on pavements and fire escapes, from accumulations of droppings.

If a local authority chooses, it can and will take action against owners or occupiers of properties who fail to undertake measures to control feral pigeon activity where the birds and their presence is regarded as causing a Health and Safety hazard.

Every year a number of Companies, property owners and employers are subjected to heavy fines through high court action for failing to ensure the safety of employees or the general public against feral pigeon fouling and activity.

Feral pigeons carry diseases that are harmful to humans; significantly more than the Brown rat and yet most people wouldn't think of feeding a wild rat.

It is estimated that 60% of the Country's pigeon population is infected with disease. Some of the most well known diseases passed from birds to humans are Cryptococcosis, Histoplasmosis, Psittacosis, Listeria, E.coli, Ornithosis and Salmonella. However over 40 diseases can be passed from the feral pigeons to humans.

Symptoms can range from a tickly cough to sudden death.

Insects that are generally associated with pigeons, their nests and droppings include: Varied carpet beetle, Fur beetle, Case bearing clothes moth, Brown house moth, White shouldered house moth, Larder beetle, Yellow mealworm beetle, Biscuit Beetle, Spider beetle, Cheese mite, Flour mite, Lesser house fly, Blue bottle, as well as a number of biting and blood-sucking tics and mites.

It is not uncommon to find these insects living within a building where pigeons are roosting. Some pose a threat to human health and most will cause damage to property or contamination of food.

We provide a range of systems to combat feral pigeon activity. These include: trapping, shooting, netting (proofing) and anti-roosing spike systems.

Trapping can usually take place out of sight of the general public, such as on a roof or within a garden etc. All captured feral pigeons are destroyed by the Technician through the use of a humane dipatching tool.

In some instances, such as when controlling larger species in rural areas, we have specialised tools at our disposal. These include high--powered firearms, enabling us to dispatch our quarry at ranges of up to a ¼ of a kilometre away. In addition to this, some of our marksmen's rifles also have state of the art night-vision scopes fitted to them. This enables them to dispatch their quarry even in total darkness!

If firearms are to be used, the ammunition used within them will be ballistic-tipped, expanding projectiles. These are specialised bullets that travel in excess of 3500 feet per second and help to ensure a clean and rapid kill.

If it is decided that the most effective method of control for a specific pest is to carryout a controlled shoot, Contract killers Ltd has at its disposal a host of suitable weapons ranging from single shot air pistols to 12 gauge magnum shotguns. These weapons are used following the completion of a thorough, on-site risk assessment and undertaken by trained and experienced marksmen. Most shoots are carried out using moderated (silenced) high-powered rifles. This can prove very effective in sensitive areas such as cemeteries and parks.

Some situations require the live-trapping of an animal, for example if the target species is someone's pet. Contract killers Ltd also have the facilities to carryout this work, causing minimum stress and no physical harm to the captured animal.
